The most decisive factor is reuse: EPS crushes and stays crushed; EPP springs back.

When the part is single-use, lightweight and cost-sensitive — packaging inserts, cold-chain fish boxes, building insulation board, thermocol plates and cups. EPS gives the highest rigidity and R-value per dollar.

Choose EPP
When the part must survive repeated impacts and spring back — automotive bumper cores, returnable containers, helmet liners, child-seat and seat components. EPP absorbs crash energy and recovers its shape trip after trip.

EPS and EPP share a pre-expander, but EPP adds a secondary foaming step and higher-pressure molding. Each block below links to full machine specs.

Raw beads expand to target density before molding. The density you set here drives final part weight, strength and cost.
