DN50-DN80 stainless steel 304 piping with TIG-welded joints (no threaded connections at high temperature). ARI or Spirax-Sarco steam control valves with pneumatic actuators. Watson-Marlow or Festo solenoid valves on branch lines for batch-level steam isolation. Steam trap network on condensate return for cyclic discharge. Pre-insulated pipework with aluminum cladding for surface temperature less than 60 degC.

SPEPP-2F runs the mandatory second foaming pass that distinguishes EPP processing from EPS — first-expanded EPP beads are pressurized, then steam-foamed under counter-pressure to reach target density 18-50 g/L with uniform cell structure.

Step 1

1. Aging Tank Loading

First-expanded EPP beads (50-100 g/L) load into pressurized aging tank for 4-24 hours conditioning at 1-3 bar gas pressure to absorb internal gas.

Step 2

2. Pressurized Gas Absorption

Compressed air or CO2 (1-3 bar) saturates the bead interior — this gas charge powers the second expansion when heated.

Step 3

3. Secondary Steam Foaming

Charged beads transfer to foaming vessel — steam 0.05-0.15 MPa at 100-120°C combined with counter-pressure expands beads 1.2-2.5x for 30-120 seconds.

Step 4

4. Cooling and Drying

Expanded beads cool immediately via vacuum or air cooling to lock cell structure, then dry to remove condensate moisture below 1 percent.

The questions buyers ask most often before placing an order.

Why can't I use my existing EPS pre-expander for EPP?
Two physical reasons. (1) Steam pressure: EPP needs 0.5-0.8 MPa, EPS pre-expanders are rated for 0.18-0.25 MPa — running at higher pressure exceeds the pressure vessel certification and risks rupture. (2) Agitator: EPP has higher viscosity during expansion, EPS agitators are sized for lower torque — running EPP destroys agitator seals within months.
Does SPEPP-2F also work for EPS?
Yes — backward compatible, just run at lower steam pressure (0.18-0.25 MPa range). But it's overkill for EPS-only production — EPS pre-expanders are 30-40% cheaper.
What automotive certifications does SPEPP-2F support?
IATF 16949 compatible (automotive supplier quality system). The machine itself is CE + ISO 9001 certified; your factory needs to add IATF 16949 process certification separately. We provide documentation supporting IATF audits.
Steam boiler requirement?
Minimum 1.0 ton/h at 1.0 MPa working pressure. Higher boiler spec than EPS due to EPP's elevated steam requirements.
